Leipzig will host its first-ever European cup final in 2026! The UEFA announced that the Conference League final will take place in the city, following the decision for Frankfurt to host the Europa League final in 2027. This marks a significant milestone for Leipzig, which previously hosted matches during the 2006 World Cup and will also host games during this summer’s European Championship.

RB Leipzig’s Managing Director, Johann Plenge, expressed excitement about bringing another major sporting event to Leipzig after the Euros. The decision to host the final in the Red Bull Arena highlights the city’s reputation for top-quality sporting venues. The club aims to work closely with the city to ensure a fantastic football celebration for the two finalist teams.

The Conference League features teams that narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Champions League and Europa League. Despite the opportunity to host the final in their own stadium, RB Leipzig has chosen not to pursue this option. The club is focused on showcasing Leipzig as a welcoming and international football destination for the competing finalists.
