“Taremi Prepares to Lead Inter, While Transfer Speculations Heat Up”

Mehdi Taremi is set to make his mark in Genoa as he prepares to lead Inter Milan in their official season opener, proudly displaying their second star on the jersey. The Iranian striker has made a positive impression since joining the club, thanks in large part to the guidance from Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has been a mentor for Taremi, assisting him not just on the pitch but also in navigating daily life in Italy.

With Taremi’s integration looking promising, Inter is contemplating an additional striker to further enhance their attacking options. There is still over a month left in the transfer window, giving the club time to make strategic moves. The player they have had their eye on for months is Icelandic forward Gudmundsson. Despite the initial attempts to bring in Anthony Martial and recently exploring options with Memphis Depay, neither deal has materialized.

Gudmundsson’s situation is currently complicated by off-field issues—he is expected to be called to court this autumn regarding allegations of sexual harassment. This cloud over his future might explain why he remains with Genoa for now, but Inter is monitoring the situation closely. The club is considering a loan deal with an option to buy rather than a permanent transfer, primarily due to the uncertainty surrounding Gudmundsson’s legal troubles.

Interestingly, Inter’s next fixture is against Genoa on August 17, creating a potential moment for Gudmundsson to face the club interested in signing him. From a purely footballing standpoint, Gudmundsson’s skills are unique to Inter’s squad, as he has the ability to create numerical advantages—an aspect lacking in their current attacking lineup. However, for this transfer to happen, Inter will need to clear some room in their squad.

There’s a limitation due to European squad rules; they can only register a certain number of players. As things stand, Inter cannot accommodate a fifth striker who isn’t a youth academy product. Additionally, Marko Arnautovic’s future needs clarity, as there have been no solid offers for him yet, although rumors persist about interest from Turkish club Trabzonspor.

Meanwhile, Valentin Carboni is expected to be the first attacker to leave Inter. He is set for a loan move to Marseille with an obligation to buy for around €40 million, while Inter retains the option for a buy-back. Before departing, Carboni is anticipated to renew his contract with a pay increase.

The situation with Joaquín Correa remains tricky. His performance has been underwhelming, including a poor showing in a friendly against Las Palmas. Inter is still exploring options to sell him, but interest from River Plate and AEK Athens has faded. With only a year left on his contract, Correa’s days at the club appear numbered, and a contract termination isn’t out of the equation if a solution isn’t found soon.

On the financial side, Inter is making progress with player sales. Sporting director Piero Ausilio is close to finalizing deals for both Satriano, who is on the verge of a permanent transfer back to Brest for around €6 million, and midfielder Agoumé, who is set to return to Sevilla for about €2 million. These moves could provide the necessary funds for Inter to pursue a left-sided center-back, a key remaining target for the team, unless they decide to revisit the possibility of signing Rodriguez, who remains a favorite of coach Simone Inzaghi. There’s still plenty of activity expected as August continues to unfold.
