“Wolfsburg sets sights on improvement after turbulent season”

The last season was rough for VfL Wolfsburg, but they are determined to turn things around. Instead of fighting for a spot in Europe, they were nearly relegated. No one wants a repeat of that situation! Fortunately, the decision to switch from Niko Kovac to Ralph Hasenhüttl as head coach paid off. Hasenhüttl managed to save the team from relegation with four wins and four losses in his eight games in charge.

Looking ahead to the next season, Hasenhüttl plans to implement a pressing and attacking style of football. He emphasizes the importance of strong fitness levels in order to succeed. The team will also be counting on Lovro Majer, who joined the club from Stade Rennes for €25 million last summer. Despite his contributions of five goals and assists, he struggled at times and lost his starting position. Hasenhüttl believes Majer will be a key player in the upcoming season.

The club is also looking to appoint a new sporting director, with Sebastian Kehl emerging as a frontrunner after Marcel Schäfer’s departure. Kehl, currently the sporting director at Borussia Dortmund, could make the switch to Wolfsburg next week. If Kehl doesn’t join the team, Fredi Bobic remains a potential candidate for the position. The club aims to have a new director in place early to kickstart their preparations for the upcoming season.
