Köln’s 7th Bundesliga Relegation: Podolski’s Return?

0

Cologne in ruins. The club hits rock bottom after their 7th relegation. High-level officials failed disastrously. Could Lukas Podolski (38/181 FC games) make a comeback now? Fans are passionately demanding the World Cup champion! Since Poldi commented on FC’s relegation on X (previously Twitter), his profile is flooded with comeback wishes. The message is clear: Poldi should step up and save FC.

The idea is not far-fetched! Poldi always intended to join FC after his career. He possesses all the qualities to unite FC again and reignite a new enthusiasm (as BILD reported). Here are some snippets of comments on social media: “It’s time for you to come home. You’re urgently needed.” “Clean house with us.” “Come back and help with the comeback…” “Poldi, you love this club like we do. Please save us. Become the President of your club. This incompetent board needs to go.”

However, current President Werner Wolf (67) and the board have no plans to step down. They are determined to continue their course, disregarding the wishes of the members. For a Poldi comeback to happen – as President or part of the board team – there needs to be an extraordinary general meeting and new elections. The chances of such elections are high as ex-pro Dieter Prestin (69) is ready to challenge Wolf. Prestin is eager to overthrow the board, even through an extraordinary FC meeting. Podolski also demands changes, stating, “Things cannot continue this way. Something must change.” He criticizes the club for having too many uninformed people making decisions and does not rule out a potential return in a leading role, but insists on having concrete plans before deciding. Podolski currently plays for Gornik Zabrze (Poland), with a contract running until 2025, hinting at a career beyond football there.
