Good news for Kingsley Coman (27)! The Bayern star was back on the training pitch on Tuesday morning after recovering from a muscle bundle tear in his right thigh suffered five and a half weeks ago during a 2-0 win in the Bundesliga against Cologne. Coman worked on his rehab with coach Simon Martinello (39) for half an hour and was able to do some light ball exercises, indicating that he had not sustained any new ligament injuries after a scare the previous day.
During a training session on Pentecost Monday, Coman experienced intense pain and had to be helped off the pitch by the medical team after a misstep during a simple drill. Concerns were high given his history of knee injuries, but fortunately, further examinations revealed no serious damage this time. This incident comes as a relief for Coman, who has faced four injuries this season, including a knee operation and two months of rehabilitation due to an inner thigh injury suffered in January.
With the EURO 2020 tournament approaching, Coman, who has been called up by the French national team coach Didier Deschamps (55), is now focused on regaining full fitness for the event. Missing out on the 2018 World Cup due to injury, the winger is determined to recover in time to compete for a spot in the national team and potentially play a key role in the upcoming European Championship in Germany from June 14 to July 14.
