Szczesny Parts Ways with Juventus After Seven Seasons, Future Uncertain

The agreement is in its final details, as the paths of Juventus and Wojciech Szczęsny are set to part ways after seven seasons together. The Polish goalkeeper has found himself on the list of players to be offloaded, largely due to Juventus’s acquisition of Michele Di Gregorio, who will be the first-choice keeper for the upcoming season. Szczęsny’s hefty salary of about €6.5 million net per year also contributed to the decision, putting financial pressure on the club.

In a recent statement, Szczęsny reflected on his time with Juventus, saying, “When a team that has given you so much asks for help, you should be willing to do so.” Despite the lack of suitable offers from other clubs — primarily due to his high wages — Juventus and Szczęsny have reportedly reached an agreement. It’s not a transfer, but rather a resolution that will see Szczęsny receiving a significant severance payout which, however, will still be much less than what would have cost Juventus for one more year of his salary.

This change is poised to happen swiftly, with signatures expected in the coming hours, along with an official announcement. The Szczęsny-Juventus relationship is coming to an end, and now the goalkeeper is free to explore his options. Next steps could include a move to Monza, a club in Saudi Arabia, MLS, or elsewhere, leaving the final decision solely in his hands.
