Milan’s Transfer Plans: New Faces Expected After US Tour, Key Targets Identified

0

AC Milan is looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season, particularly targeting new additions for coach Paulo Fonseca following their pre-season tour in the United States. The Rossoneri hierarchy, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, CEO Giorgio Furlani, and sporting director Geoffrey Moncada, aims to secure a central midfielder and a right-back, as well as a deputy goalkeeper for Mike Maignan.

One of their key targets is goalkeeper Andrea Scuffet from Cagliari, with negotiations centered around a loan deal valued at €500,000 with a future buy option. Parallel to this, Milan is monitoring players including Emerson Royal from Tottenham and Youssouf Fofana from AS Monaco but faces challenges. The Premier League club is adamant about retaining Emerson, despite the player’s desire to move away from England. Currently, there is only a slight difference of just over €1 million between the two clubs’ valuations, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has proven to be a tough negotiator.

Fofana’s situation is equally complex; after returning to training following a summer break, the midfielder is under contract with Monaco until 2025. The club has made it clear through their director, Thiago Scuro, that selling him is not a given, as coach Adi Hütter relies heavily on him. Milan had earlier reached a verbal agreement with Monaco for a fee of €14 million plus bonuses, but the emergence of a significant offer from West Ham United—reportedly €35 million—has pushed Monaco to raise their asking price.

Milan is optimistic and has slightly adjusted their proposal for Fofana, hoping to receive a response either by the end of the weekend or early next week. The return of Furlani and Moncada from the United States is strategic, as they look to capitalize on the busy transfer market without the complications of time zone differences.

Furthermore, Milan has not lost sight of Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic, who has expressed interest in joining the club. However, the gap between Udinese’s asking price and Milan’s offer is still considerable. The 22-year-old Serbian is seen as a promising investment for the future, and Milan is prepared to act if Udinese lowers their demands, potentially influenced by the player’s own desire for a move.

In the attacking department, Milan is exploring potential moves but needs to resolve the situation concerning Luka Jovic, either through finding him a new club or integrating him into a swap deal. The Rossoneri remain active in the transfer market, eager to ensure that they build a competitive squad for the challenges ahead.
