Mehdi Taremi has hit a setback as he deals with a muscle strain in his left thigh. The Iranian forward, who joined Inter Milan for free this summer, will miss tomorrow’s friendly against Pisa, scheduled to take place at the Arena Garibaldi at 19:30. There are concerns he could be sidelined for a couple of weeks, putting his availability for the Serie A opener against Genoa on August 17 in doubt.
Inter Milan confirmed Taremi’s condition in an official statement: “Mehdi Taremi underwent an MRI this morning at the Humanitas Clinical Institute in Rozzano. The tests revealed a muscle strain in the biceps femoris of his left thigh. His situation will be reevaluated next week.”
Taremi’s preseason performance had been impressive, scoring five goals in three matches, including two doubles. Coach Simone Inzaghi will be hopeful for a quick recovery as Inter continues their preparations. Following the match against Pisa, Inter will face Al Ittihad in Monza and then take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge—two crucial test matches before their Serie A debut against Genoa.
