Juventus Eyes Milan’s Kalulu for Defensive Boost Amid Transfer Talks

Thiago Motta may find a defensive solution in a surprising place: AC Milan. Juventus has initiated discussions regarding the potential transfer of Pierre Kalulu, with a preliminary agreement for a loan that includes a purchase option. The Serie A club aims to pay an immediate fee of around €2-3 million, potentially adding some bonuses, while retaining the right to decide on Kalulu’s future at the end of the season. The option to buy is expected to be set between €14-15 million, but Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is keen to negotiate the final figure, likely including a sell-on percentage.

With the pursuit of Jean-Clair Todibo off the table—who had become Juventus’ top target following Calafiori’s move to Arsenal—the Bianconeri are now on the lookout for a defender who can fit into Motta’s tactical setup. Kalulu, born in 2000, offers versatility as a naturally right-footed player but is also capable of playing on the left in central defense or as part of a back three. Despite his young age, he already has considerable European experience from his time at Lyon as well as Milan.

Currently, the talks appear to be one-sided favoring Juventus, but it’s possible the negotiations could extend to include other players departing from Turin. Juventus has several surplus players, which could lead to separate operations alongside the potential deal for Kalulu.
