Juventus and Federico Chiesa Growing Apart: Future Uncertain as Market Closes

0

Juventus and Federico Chiesa are increasingly drifting apart as the new season approaches. Coach Thiago Motta has been preparing for the start of the campaign without the talented forward. This was evident last week during their friendly match in Nuremberg, and it will be the same again today as Juventus travel to Pescara for an evening match against Brest, which will be broadcast live on Sky and Dazn. Chiesa, however, will remain in Turin training alongside Tiago Djalò, another high-profile player possibly heading for an exit.

This situation further highlights the growing distance between Chiesa and the Juventus squad. Unlike earlier this summer, where personal matters related to his wedding were cited as a reason for his absence, his current non-participation is not due to physical reasons. Upon the team’s return from Germany, Chiesa trained alongside teammates like Dusan Vlahovic, but he will miss another match today. His future at Juventus looks increasingly uncertain, and his absence from Pescara is another sign of this.

As the summer transfer window rolls on for another 27 days, both Juventus and Chiesa will need to find a resolution. Discussions over a contract renewal seem to be stalling. The club is likely to seek a transfer for Chiesa to avoid the possibility of losing him for free in 2025. The reasons for this potential departure intertwine contract issues and tactical decisions. While the club aims to monetize Chiesa’s exit, Motta has signaled that he is open to letting the 26-year-old former Fiorentina star leave.

Juventus is looking for a transfer fee of around €20 million to part ways with Chiesa. The right offer may come from England, with clubs like Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Tottenham showing interest. Chiesa’s agent was recently seen in England, which could signal a move.

In the meantime, Thiago Motta is in need of wingers after Matias Soulé’s transfer to Roma. Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is exploring several options to fulfill Motta’s wishes. There is interest in Nico Gonzalez from Fiorentina, who is also being targeted by Atalanta. However, a potential deal hinges on Fiorentina’s willingness to include some player exchanges, possibly McKennie or Kostic.

Juventus is also in talks with Porto, who need to offload players to comply with financial fair play regulations. Galeno, a Brazilian with a Portuguese passport, remains Motta’s preferred target, having scored 16 goals and provided 12 assists last season. Porto is reportedly looking for around €30 million plus bonuses for Galeno. A similar price is expected for another young prospect, Francisco Conceicao, son of former Lazio player Sergio.

Before focusing on wingers, Motta is awaiting developments regarding defender Jean-Clair Todibo and midfielder Teun Koopmeiners. Ongoing negotiations with Nice over Todibo are proving tough, with the French club rejecting Juve’s initial loan offer that included an option to buy. West Ham has also shown interest, but for now, Todibo prefers to move to Juventus. Meanwhile, preparations for an official approach for Koopmeiners are underway as he remains a key target this summer.
