Jan-Carlo Simic’s past year has been like a high-speed train journey. Starting off in the United States last summer on tour with the first team, it may end in Germany with an unexpected European experience with Serbia. Along the way, the young AC Milan defender has achieved his Serie A debut and first goal, reached the finals of the Youth League, and played in the Primavera championship, the last goal of Milan’s season. However, uncertainties about his future remain in the background.
The journey began in summer 2023 when Jan-Carlo lived the dream of the American tour with senior players. His solid performance against Real Madrid in Los Angeles impressed everyone, setting the stage for more opportunities with the first team. Born in Germany to a Bosnian father and Serbian mother, his positive start in the Primavera caught the eye of coach Pioli. Despite injuries at Milanello, Jan-Carlo’s readiness led to his Serie A debut against Monza on December 18, where he scored the opening goal at San Siro, ending the season with 6 Serie A appearances and 28 Primavera matches.
Under Abate’s guidance, Simic continued to grow alongside his Primavera teammates, reaching the Youth League finals and securing a spot in the Primavera championship finals. Looking ahead to future challenges, Jan-Carlo expressed his determination on social media, emphasizing the team’s potential for more success. Recently, he was pre-selected for the Euros by the Serbian national team, marking a significant milestone in his career. However, with interest from Feyenoord and his contract with Milan ending in 2025, his future remains uncertain as the club deliberates on potential offers.
