Como 1907 has announced an exciting new chapter for its women’s team, akin to the strategy used with Cesc Fabregas in men’s football. The club has brought in Heather O’Reilly, a celebrated icon in women’s football, to be a part of their project. After winning the Promozione league last year, the team aims to reach the highest level of women’s football as quickly as possible, following in the footsteps of the men’s team, which recently moved from Serie D to Serie A.

Heather O’Reilly, a legendary American midfielder who retired in 2019 after over 200 appearances for the United States Women’s National Team, brings unmatched experience and passion to Como 1907. Her illustrious career includes three Olympic gold medals and a Women’s World Cup title in 2015, as well as successful stints at prestigious clubs like Arsenal and North Carolina Courage.

This new phase for Como’s women’s team will be documented in a series of films that will follow O’Reilly and the squad as they strive to climb the ranks of women’s football. The series will highlight the challenges, victories, and the courageous spirit of a team determined to make history.

“This is not just a soccer story; it’s a narrative of passion, resilience, and the pursuit of greatness,” O’Reilly stated. “Como 1907 has a rich history and an incredible fan base; I am honored to be part of this journey. I have a player’s mentality and know what it takes to make a locker room work. Together, we will aim for new heights and make history. I can’t wait to start working with the team and the coaching staff.”

Como 1907 expressed its excitement and commitment to the women’s project, stating, “Como 1907 is a family, and it’s right that our women’s first team receives the support, trust, and tools needed to succeed. The women’s sector is a significant part of our plans and ambitions for the club and the community. We are committed to providing the necessary resources for the team to achieve its dreams and continue building the legacy of Como 1907. We want to extend a warm welcome to Heather; we can’t wait to see the team in action!”
