0

Gerry Cardinale is set to return to Milan for a significant event as the second edition of the Trofeo Berlusconi takes center stage. This special trophy honors the late president Silvio Berlusconi, a key figure in AC Milan’s history who helped elevate the club’s stature worldwide. On August 15, around 50,000 fans are expected to fill San Siro for this tribute match, prompting the club to open additional ticket sales for the upper tiers of the stadium due to high demand.

Cardinale, the head of RedBird Capital, will arrive in Milan today not only for the match but also for important discussions regarding the club’s future. His itinerary includes a visit to Milanello, the training center, where he will meet with star player Zlatan Ibrahimovic and coach Paulo Fonseca. Following the meet-and-greet, Cardinale is scheduled to have lunch with the team.

In the afternoon, he will head to Casa Milan for a series of meetings to strategize for the upcoming transfer window and to outline key annual goals, including plans for a new stadium. Cardinale’s visit signifies a commitment to AC Milan’s strategic development and revitalization as a competitive force in both Italian and international football.

Accompanying Cardinale is John Thornton, RedBird’s chairman and former co-president of Goldman Sachs, who has a historical connection to Berlusconi. Their presence at the gala evening at San Siro underscores the significance of this occasion and the continued ambition of AC Milan to construct a promising future ahead.
