Emerson Royal has officially joined AC Milan. The Brazilian defender, born in 1999 and a former Tottenham player, signed a four-year contract with an option for an additional season and was presented at Casa Milan. During his press conference, he expressed his excitement about the move, stating, “I have always believed in coming to Milan. It has always been clear that the Rossoneri club was the best option for me. I am full of enthusiasm and eagerness to repay the trust by helping the club return to the top.”
Royal acknowledged the legacy of Brazilian defenders at Milan, referencing legends like Thiago Silva and Cafu. He added, “Many Brazilians have written great stories here, and I hope to be among them.”
Wearing the number 22 shirt carries special meaning for him; it’s a number he has cherished throughout his career. “The 22 has a history here with Kakà,” he explained. “But it’s also a number I feel connected to. I wore 22 for the national team and during my best seasons. I wanted this number. I haven’t spoken to him yet, but having this number is one of the best things.”
Emerson is eager to make his mark at Milan and contribute to the club’s successes in the future.
