Como is taking action following a heavy defeat in their Serie A opener against Juventus. The club from Lombardy has made three significant signings, continuing their strategy of combining experienced players with young talent in this summer’s transfer market.
Joining the ranks of manager Cesc Fabregas is Sergi Roberto, a former Barcelona player who was recently without a club. At 32 years old, Roberto started his career as a right-back but has also adapted to perform effectively as a central midfielder. During his time at Barcelona, he made 373 appearances and scored 19 goals, contributing to a trophy cabinet that includes seven La Liga titles, six Copa del Rey trophies, four Supercopa de España titles, two UEFA Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cups, and two FIFA Club World Cups. Sergi Roberto will sign a two-year contract with Como.
In addition to Roberto, Como has also secured two young midfield talents for Fabregas. First is Nicolás Paz, a 2004-born playmaker from Real Madrid. Paz spent last season alternating between the first team and Real Madrid’s B team, Castilla, and will join Como for a fee of €6 million. However, the deal includes a 50% sell-on clause for Real Madrid in the event of a future transfer, as well as a buyback option for the Spanish giants.
The second young addition is Máximo Perrone, a 2003-born midfielder from Manchester City. Perrone spent last season on loan at Las Palmas and will arrive at Como on loan, with options for both a future purchase and a buyback clause. These strategic moves highlight Como’s commitment to strengthening their squad after a tough start to the season.
