Disappointed by missing out on another European Championship, but determined to come back stronger. Aston Villa’s midfielder Nicolò Zaniolo has his mind set. This morning, he will arrive at the Humanitas hospital in Milan at 8 a.m., accompanied by his family, to undergo surgery on his left foot’s fifth metatarsal due to a fracture suffered during the match against Liverpool on May 13th (the game ended 2-1 in favor of Liverpool). It’s a routine orthopedic procedure, and Zaniolo is expected to return home tomorrow and begin rehabilitation to be ready for pre-season training in mid-July.

Although Zaniolo is currently on loan from Galatasaray at Aston Villa, Fiorentina has shown interest in bringing him back to Italy after his spell at Roma and in Turkey. The midfielder, valued for his skills, is considering his options for the upcoming season and the possibility of reuniting with the Italian national team (he has played nineteen games for Italy and scored two goals). Despite the setback of missing the Euros for the second time due to injury, Zaniolo remains focused on making an impact in Serie A in the future.

The stroke of bad luck seems to haunt the talented playmaker, having missed the 2021 Euros and now the end of the Premier League season. This setback not only affects Zaniolo but also poses a challenge for Italy’s national coach, Luciano Spalletti, who will have to adjust his plans without the creativity of the injured Villa midfielder. Despite the setbacks, Zaniolo is determined to return to the pitch in July, aiming to make a mark in the next Serie A season and continue his journey with the national team.
