According to a report from Ouest-France, Stade Rennais is set to undergo a change in its leadership structure. The club’s governance, which is currently overseen by a board of directors controlling the executive and operational aspects, will see Jacques Delanoë stepping down as the board’s president. Delanoë, who has been a part of the board since 2012 and assumed the role of president in 2017 during Olivier Létang’s tenure, will be succeeded by Alban Gréget, a 47-year-old executive from Artémis, the Pinault family’s holding company.
The decision for Delanoë to relinquish his position was reached amicably and had been in the works for roughly ten days. During his time at the helm, he oversaw Rennes’ successful qualification for European competitions and introduced initiatives such as the “galerie des légendes” at Roazhon Park. Gréget, who previously acted as a liaison between Rennes’ management and the Pinault family, possesses a deep understanding of the club’s operations and projects. He was instrumental in communicating the dismissal of Olivier Létang to the players in early 2020 and was also present during Julien Stéphan’s appointment last November.
The transition in leadership at Stade Rennais marks a significant chapter in the club’s ongoing evolution. With Gréget’s expertise and familiarity with the inner workings of the organization, the club looks towards a seamless transition and continued success both on and off the field. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
