Zlatan Ibrahimovic is using the first few months of his new role to learn and make important decisions. Recently, he appeared on ESPN’s “First Take,” where he shared insights about his transition from player to decision-maker.
“I have a lot to learn,” the Swedish superstar admitted. “I bring my experiences to the table, but now I’m looking at things from a different perspective. I enjoy the responsibilities and pressures of this role. We eat pressure for breakfast.”
Ibrahimovic emphasized that he knows the players well, having played alongside them, and now he is responsible for making decisions about their futures. “It’s not easy to work above them and make some tough calls, often ones that aren’t friendly,” he said.
When asked if he would like to become a coach, Ibrahimovic replied, “Coaching isn’t easy. Once you transition from player to coach, you have to start from scratch and take one step at a time, often with a smaller team or youth squads. For me, making that leap would be too big. As a player, I already had little free time, and just imagine how it would be as a coach. I want to enjoy life in a different way, too.”
His thoughts reveal a blend of ambition and realism, showcasing a deeper understanding of the responsibilities that come with his new position.
