Vandalism Strikes Murale Dedicated to Roma Legend Giacomo Losi in Balduina

A mural dedicated to Giacomo Losi, a historic captain of AS Roma, was unveiled on June 22 in Piazza Giovenale, Balduina, to commemorate his legacy as both a footballer and a respected figure. However, it was vandalized overnight, covered with offensive graffiti targeting Roma and other defacing marks. Losi, who passed away on February 4 at the age of 89, was honored by many at his funeral, including Bruno Giordano, a prominent Lazio player closely connected to Losi’s family. Known as “Core de Roma,” Losi was deeply admired, and the mural was well-received for its artistic design and tribute.

Upon its reveal, Losi’s son, Roberto, expressed his gratitude on Facebook, stating, “A beautiful tribute to Dad in Piazza Giovenale. Thank you from the heart.” Unfortunately, in just a short time, the mural was vandalized with black spray paint, marking a disgraceful act against a symbol of both Roma and Italian football. Balduina was Losi’s long-time residence, and prior to this mural, other artworks had already started appearing around the city in honor of the former captain. The destruction of such a tribute has sparked outrage among fans and the local community, highlighting the ongoing challenges of respecting sports legacies in urban settings.
