Mattia De Sciglio Nears Move to Empoli as Juventus Plans Transition

Mattia De Sciglio’s future is hanging in the balance as he edges closer to a move from Juventus to Empoli. The Juventus defender has found himself sidelined at the club, and discussions between the management of both teams have reportedly reached an agreement for a permanent transfer.

While Empoli appears to be the most likely destination for De Sciglio, the player himself has not yet given a definitive answer about leaving Juventus. He is reportedly taking some time to weigh his options, but it seems that the opportunity to join Empoli is one of the few concrete offers on the table for him at this moment.

De Sciglio arrived at Juventus in the summer of 2017 for a fee of €12 million, after being specifically targeted by former Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri. During his time in Turin from 2017 to 2020, he made 44 appearances for the club. He then spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Lyon before returning to Juventus, where he added another 38 matches to his record.

Currently, De Sciglio is training alone, having been overlooked by coach Thiago Motta and the club for summer preseason preparations. With his departure from Juventus now imminent, he prepares for a new chapter in his career, with Empoli seemingly just around the corner.
