Matias Soulé has officially signed with AS Roma, becoming the club’s latest addition. The former Juventus player completed his medical exams at Paideia and signed a contract that will keep him in the Italian capital until 2029, earning a salary of €2 million plus bonuses per season.
Soulé was warmly welcomed by nearly 400 fans at Fiumicino Airport on Sunday night. The Friedkin family, the owners of Roma, invested €30 million to bring him to the club. Despite the sweltering heat, with temperatures reaching almost 40 degrees Celsius, the Argentine was excited to start his journey with his new team. He couldn’t wait to work under manager Daniele De Rossi and was also greeted warmly by his friend Paulo Dybala, who along with Leandro Paredes, sent him a welcoming message as soon as he arrived. Dybala made sure to secure Soulé a spot next to him in the locker room, which Soulé proudly shared on Instagram.
After completing the necessary medical checks, Soulé rushed to finalize a deal that had been in the works for weeks. His immediate goal is to be included in the lineup for Roma’s upcoming friendly match against Olympiacos in Rieti next Saturday. Following stints at both Frosinone and now Roma, the young player is looking forward to making a significant impact on the pitch.
Having previously played just under 45 kilometers from Rome last year, Soulé is no stranger to the city. During his time with Frosinone, he frequently visited the capital, and while he initially went unnoticed, his rising fame has changed that. Despite the challenges of being a known player now, he has fond memories of Rome, particularly at the Colosseum, where he shared special moments with his girlfriend Milagros, an Argentine model and influencer.
Soulé is also familiar with local hotspots, including restaurants that serve his favorite Asado and his trusted barber in the Eur area. With the new Roma shirt soon to be donned, Soulé also took a moment to express his gratitude to Juventus in an emotional Instagram post. He thanked the club for his years there, stating, “Thank you dear Juventus for all these years together. I grew as a person and especially as a man. I will never forget you. Muchas gracias.”
