Malick Thiaw is at risk of missing the upcoming Lazio vs. AC Milan match. The central defender suffered a minor ankle sprain during training yesterday afternoon. Although it is not a serious injury, it could keep him out of Milan’s third match of the season.
Thiaw was a starter in the opening game against Torino but had a tough night, scoring an own goal that led to Torino’s first goal. Coach Paulo Fonseca revamped the defense last week and opted to start Pavlovic, a decision that proved to be a good one during their match against Parma. Pavlovic excelled and earned a spot on the season’s best lineup so far.
Given these circumstances, it’s likely that Thiaw would not have featured in the game in Rome on Saturday night. As it stands, the preferred defensive pairing for Milan appears to be Tomori and Pavlovic. The club remains hopeful that Thiaw might at least be available for the bench.
