Teun Koopmeiners is set to join Juventus in a deal that has been finalized between the Italian clubs Atalanta and Juventus. The move will see the Dutch midfielder make his way to Turin for over €50 million, with potential bonuses bringing the total close to €60 million, the price Atalanta had consistently requested for their star player.
Koopmeiners is expected to undergo medical examinations tomorrow morning and will quickly join up with coach Thiago Motta’s squad to prepare for the upcoming match against Roma, just before the international break.
The decisive factor in the negotiations was the player’s preference. Although there were interests from other clubs, including Liverpool, Koopmeiners felt that joining Juventus was the right step at this stage of his career. The midfielder will earn an impressive salary of €4.5 million per season for the next five years, in addition to some performance-related bonuses.
His arrival is seen as a significant boost for Thiago Motta’s midfield, which has already been strengthened by the signings of Douglas Luiz and Thuram. It is anticipated that Koopmeiners will play in a more advanced role, likely just behind striker Dusan Vlahovic, adding depth and creativity to the team’s attacking options.
