Juventus Targets Two Wingers: Nico Gonzalez and Wenderson Galeno Options

Juventus is ramping up its efforts to strengthen the wings of its attack following Thiago Motta’s debut at Allianz Stadium, with new insights emerging about potential signings. Cristiano Giuntoli, the club’s sporting director, is focusing on two main targets: Wenderson Galeno from Porto and Nico Gonzalez from Fiorentina. Unique circumstances might allow the club to pursue both players simultaneously, especially as Galeno holds a Portuguese passport, which is crucial for Juventus as they have exhausted their non-European Union player slots.

Nico Gonzalez recently returned to Florence after an impressive Copa America with Argentina. He met with his agents upon arrival and underwent medicals and training soon after. Reports suggest that he has communicated to Fiorentina’s coach, Raffaele Palladino, that he’s open to a move if an appropriate offer comes along. The Viola have made it clear that while Gonzalez is not untouchable, they are looking for around €35 million for him. Juventus is exploring options for a straight cash deal, particularly since they may have funds available should their pursuit of Teun Koopmeiners not pan out.

As negotiations progress, Juventus is considering offering players in exchange to lower costs. Weston McKennie, who has a contract until 2025, and Arthur Melo are among those mentioned as potential makeweights. Yet, McKennie and Arthur’s substantial wages could complicate any deal. Fiorentina seems inclined to sell Gonzalez without any exchanges, potentially making a direct cash offer necessary.

On the other hand, the situation with Galeno is also heating up. The Brazilian has expressed a desire to move to Turin, and Juventus is in regular contact with his agents. Porto values Galeno at €35 million but are keen to sell to meet financial fair play regulations, making them open to negotiations. Juventus plans to start their offer around €25 million, possibly including Tiago Djaló as a bargaining chip.

Other names in Juventus’ sights include Conceicao Junior and Karim Adeyemi, though the latter’s availability remains uncertain as Borussia Dortmund has shown no inclination to let him go. Additionally, Domenico Berardi from Sassuolo, currently recovering from injury, could emerge as a late alternative for Juve as they seek to bolster their attacking options.

As Juventus navigates potential moves, Motta is optimistic he will receive the reinforcements necessary to enhance the squad’s offensive capabilities.
