The long-awaited Teun Day has finally arrived. After two rounds of matches in the Serie A, Juventus is set to push forward with their pursuit of Atalanta’s Dutch midfielder, Teun Koopmeiners. The goal is to finalize the deal and bring him to Turin by tomorrow, giving manager Thiago Motta a key player in time for their upcoming battle against Roma.
The transfer saga has been lengthy, with negotiations faced by delays and frustrations. Atalanta had been reluctant to negotiate, irritated by the player’s conduct and the timing of Juventus’ offers. The Bergamaschi expected an offer as early as July but were left waiting. Now, the agreement seems close, with Juventus prepared to pay €55 million plus additional bonuses, effectively reaching the €60 million mark that Atalanta has consistently demanded.
Koopmeiners will become the eighth new signing under coach Motta’s leadership, as the club undergoes a significant overhaul. The transformation started with goalkeeper Marco Di Gregorio and has continued with new reinforcements across all positions. There is even a possibility of another attacking signing, as Jadon Sancho remains a potential last-minute addition on loan.
Koopmeiners adds strength, creativity, and goals—he scored 15 times last season—to a midfield that is nearly new. Following the departure of Adrien Rabiot, new arrivals include Douglas Luiz and Khai Havertz, joining Manuel Locatelli and Nicolò Fagioli, who returns after a suspension last season due to the betting scandal.
Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is also focusing on outgoing transfers, particularly concerning Federico Chiesa. The winger has attracted interest from Barcelona, although the Catalan club must first sell players before engaging in a deal. Initial talks between Chiesa’s agent, Fali Ramadani, and Barcelona have commenced, but negotiations between clubs are yet to take place. Additionally, Liverpool has emerged as an appealing destination for Chiesa, who could fetch between €10 million and €15 million in a sale, while the club would also lighten its wage bill, saving €5 million net from his salary as his contract runs until 2025.
Other players in the spotlight for departures include Filip Kostić and Arthur, both linked to Fiorentina, as well as Djaló, who has interest from Stuttgart and De Sciglio, a potential target for Empoli. On the incoming front, Francisco Conceição has completed his medical and signed with the club, joining from Porto on a paid loan of €7 million plus €2 million in bonuses, which also includes his wage of €2.5 million.
Despite the active transfer window, Juventus is not stepping back on their interest for Sancho. The Englishman could join regardless of Chiesa’s future, should Manchester United agree to a loan without any obligations and contribute to his substantial salary of €8 million net.
