Inter to Discuss Marko Arnautovic’s Future Amid Striker Shuffle Plans

Marko Arnautovic is set to have discussions with Inter Milan, but there is no rush. The conversation will help Inter determine their options in attack without pressure. Head coach Simone Inzaghi has plans for his forward line, aiming for four interchangeable strikers to manage the demands of a potentially long season. While Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, and Mehdi Taremi fit the ideal profile, Arnautovic is more of a traditional central striker.

As time has passed, Arnautovic has slipped down the pecking order at Inter and is currently the fourth choice among the attacking players. This evening, he is expected to have more playing time due to Taremi’s injury and the delayed return of his teammates. The discussions between Arnautovic and Inter’s management will revolve around his role moving forward—whether he is willing to accept being a backup or if he will explore other options.

So far, Arnautovic seems inclined to stay at Inter, effectively pausing any moves for additional striking talent. He has received interest from clubs in Turkey, including Besiktas, Galatasaray, and Trabzonspor, but no concrete offers have materialized, which is crucial for any transfer discussions. If Arnautovic expresses a desire to leave, Inter’s executives, Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio, will look for a solution that benefits all parties involved. However, there is a significant factor concerning his salary; Arnautovic, now 35 years old, earns €3.5 million net annually, a considerable cost for both Inter and any potential suitor.

Meanwhile, Inter needs to trim their squad, as the number of surplus players remains high. Martin Satriano had seemed likely to leave after Brest and Inter agreed on a €6 million deal, but he has reportedly turned down the offer. Joaquin Correa’s future is also uncertain; despite interest from AEK Athens, no agreement has been reached. It is widely expected that, whether through a transfer or contract termination, Correa will no longer be with Inter after September 1.

Additionally, Lucien Agoume and Ricardo Rodriguez are heading to Andalusia. Agoume is close to finalizing a deal with Sevilla, while Rodriguez has chosen to sign with Real Betis, leaving Inter on a free transfer. As the transfer window remains open for another month, Inter will be looking to resolve these situations effectively.
