Inter Eyes Young Defender Palacios Amidst Ongoing Transfer Moves

Inter Milan’s transfer market activity is far from over as they look to strengthen their squad before the deadline. The club’s search for a forward is closely tied to potential departures, with at least one of Marko Arnautovic or Joaquín Correa likely to leave. Until Fiorentina finalizes their interest, Inter will keep the name of Gudmundsson on their radar.

However, the most imminent transfer for Inter is in defense, a specific request from coach Simone Inzaghi. The management agrees on the need for a new defender but prefers to pursue a younger profile. Inzaghi had initial hopes for a seasoned player like Ronaldo Rodríguez or Mario Hermoso. Instead, the club is looking at younger talents, with the main target being 21-year-old Argentine Tomas Palacios, currently playing for Independiente Rivadavia but owned by Talleres.

The deal for Palacios is not finalized yet, especially since he is drawing interest from various European clubs, particularly RB Leipzig. Nevertheless, Inter has been closely monitoring him and has been impressed with his performances. They aim to replicate last year’s successful signing of Bisseck, who has developed enough to compete for a starting place with Benjamin Pavard.

Inter is prepared to make a bid of around €5 million for Palacios, which is a more affordable option compared to other targets. They have also explored the possibility of signing Faye, a 20-year-old from Barcelona, but the Catalan club demands €15 million for him, making Palacios the preferred option for the sixth central defender. Inzaghi intends to utilize Carlos Augusto as a high winger until injured Buchanan returns, expected by the end of October.

Inter’s forward situation is not limited to Arnautovic and Correa. Two other strikers, Salcedo and Satriano, are on the transfer list. Satriano was previously sold to Brest for €6 million but he rejected the move. Currently, Real Betis is showing interest in him, and the management hopes to recover the same amount from his departure, with negotiations ongoing.
