Sofyan Fofana can leave AS Monaco this summer, but the club’s demands must be met. The midfielder has drawn interest from AC Milan, and the club’s general manager, Thiago Scuro, outlined the situation while speaking to the press. Scuro emphasized that there is no specific deadline for the transfer, aside from the market closing on August 31.
“There is a good relationship with Fofana,” Scuro said, highlighting the transparency and lack of conflict between the player and the club. “We talk often, and my role is to protect the club. Fofana has been very professional and respectful throughout this process.”
Scuro noted that an agreement was reached last summer, allowing Fofana to leave Monaco this summer. However, it is essential that the club’s terms are respected. Monaco has set a clear price for the player, estimated at around €35 million, and they are not willing to lower it during negotiations.
“Every negotiation comes with its challenges,” Scuro acknowledged, adding, “We continue to work on finding a solution that benefits both the club and the player. I hope we can move forward positively.”
If a deal cannot be reached, Monaco is open to the possibility of Fofana staying and potentially leaving for free next season. “His ambition is clear, as is ours,” Scuro stated. The pressure now lies on AC Milan to meet both parties’ expectations.
