As the new season approaches, Lecce is once again generating excitement among fantasy football enthusiasts. The club has a history of uncovering hidden gems each year, and fans are eager to see who will shine in the 2024-25 campaign. Two years ago, players like Baschirotto and Hjulmand grabbed attention, followed by Pongracic and partially Krstovic last season. This time, who will be the standout performers?
As usual, Sporting Director Pantaleo Corvino has opted for a strategy of selling high and buying low. Leaving the club are Almqvist and Pongracic, while Lecce welcomes several fresh faces. Among the new signings are goalkeeper Christian Fruchtl from Austria Vienna, defender Kialonda Gaspar from Estrela Amadora, midfielder Balthazar Pierret from French club QRM, winger Tete Morente, who joined as a free agent, and Polish attacking midfielder Filip Marchwinski from Lech Poznan. Additionally, Delle Monache has arrived from Sampdoria.
For fantasy football players, picking the right players can initially be challenging due to potential starting spots and competition for places. However, there is promise for those who strategize well. Starting with goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone, he has the ability to deliver high scores on his best days, making him a great second-choice option. In defense, Gallo could build on his 3 assists from last season, especially if the competition with Dorgu becomes less intense than before.
In midfield, Oudin stands out; he takes shots from outside the box and handles most set-pieces. Up front, Krstovic, coming off a solid previous season, is expected to make a significant impact as he seeks to reach his potential.
For those intrigued by the new arrivals, Pierret is a midfielder who not only orchestrates play but has also netted 6 goals in two seasons of French Serie B. Gaspar, a central defender known for his aerial prowess, is being dubbed the “Angolan Baschirotto.” Lastly, Marchwinski comes off an impressive season in Poland, where he scored 8 goals and provided 5 assists.
In terms of possible formations, a 4-2-3-1 setup looks promising with Falcone in goal; Gendrey, Gaspar, Baschirotto, and Gallo in defense; Ramadani and Pierret in midfield; and an attacking line featuring Morente, Oudin, Banda, and Krstovic. Potential substitutes include Gallo/Dorgu, Pierret/Rafia, and Banda/Dorgu. For penalties and free kicks, Krstovic, Oudin, and Morente are in the mix.
With the season starting soon, it will be interesting to see how these selections pan out in the fantasy leagues. There might be plenty of surprises in store for fans of Lecce and fantasy football alike.
