Conte Addresses Napoli’s Market Situation Ahead of Bologna Clash

Antonio Conte recently addressed the media ahead of Napoli’s league opener against Bologna, attempting to downplay the ongoing speculation surrounding the club’s recent transfer market activities. However, he still managed to share his thoughts on the situation. “Things are currently stuck and complicated. It’s disappointing, but I don’t have much more to say. You should ask the club about it. I see you are well-informed because I also get my news from you,” Conte remarked.

Despite this, the focus of the press conference was meant to be on the upcoming match against Bologna. Conte expressed concern regarding Napoli’s performance in the second half against Verona, which raised old fears and reminded both players and fans of previous struggles. “I thought many issues had been resolved, but they have resurfaced. The players understand this discomfort and are eager not to repeat these situations. They are committed and I’m very pleased with their professionalism and care for Napoli,” he stated.

With just 48 hours before facing Bologna, Conte emphasized the need for a collective effort from the team and the fans. “Bologna is a physical team, with intensity and strong wingers capable of one-on-one confrontations and quick counterattacks. We will need to be alert and more aggressive in front of goal to convert our chances. Everyone at the Maradona must bring their A-game,” he advised.

Conte also touched on new signings, expressing curiosity about Neres and Marin. He noted that Neres, who can play in multiple positions, has great potential but will need time to adapt, while Rafa Marin has shown significant physical improvement since joining. “Neres is a player we’ve pursued for a long time; he has quality and can replace either Politano or Kvara. He will be on the bench, and Marin has made great strides and shows promise,” Conte explained.

As the conference wrapped up, Conte’s enthusiasm became apparent. “Regardless of what happens in the transfer market, I have made a moral and personal commitment—not just to the Neapolitans, who show me great support and enthusiasm without yet seeing results, but also to the players as we aim to rebuild this project. We will do everything possible and even the impossible to restore Napoli’s prestige and bring it back to where it deserves to be,” he concluded.
