Chelsea are on the lookout for a new manager after parting ways with Mauricio Pochettino. The shortlist includes Kieran McKenna from Ipswich Town, Enzo Maresca from Leicester City, and Thomas Frank from Brentford. McKenna seems to be the frontrunner, but Maresca and Frank are also being considered. There is a mystery fourth candidate as well.
McKenna, who recently guided Ipswich Town to promotion from the Championship, is on the radar of not only Chelsea but also Brighton and Manchester United. Chelsea hope to appoint a new manager swiftly as their players are set to start pre-season on 4 July. Maresca, who won the Championship with Leicester and has worked with Pep Guardiola, presents another option for the Blues.
Danish manager Frank, who helped Brentford secure promotion to the Premier League and stabilize their position in the top flight, is also in contention. Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness was considered but is now expected to stay in Germany. Chelsea finished sixth in the Premier League and lost the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool last season.
