Chelsea’s manager Mauricio Pochettino has left the club after coaching for just one season. The 52-year-old signed on in July, but faced criticism during the season. Despite this, a strong finish saw Chelsea end in sixth place in the Premier League and make it to the Carabao Cup finals and FA Cup semi-finals. Pochettino thanked the ownership for the opportunity and believes the club is set for future success.
Pochettino’s departure marks the sixth different permanent manager for Chelsea in five years. Following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, Frank Lampard took over temporarily before Pochettino’s tenure. The club’s sporting directors expressed gratitude for his service and wished him well in his next coaching endeavors. His coaching staff also parted ways with the club.
During his time at Chelsea, Pochettino oversaw significant spending on players including Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, Moises Caicedo, and Christopher Nkunku. Despite these new additions, the team fell short of the title expectations. Pochettino’s exit was amicable and it was a mutual decision. Chelsea fans will now be eagerly waiting to see who will be the next manager to lead the team and bring glory to Stamford Bridge.
