Christopher Jullien injured in Ligue 1 match.

Montpellier’s defender Christopher Jullien suffered a serious knee injury in their recent match against Lens, which ended in a 2-2 draw. The 31-year-old central defender confirmed the news on his social media, revealing that he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament. Jullien sustained the injury during a routine challenge with a Lens attacker in the 80th minute of the game.

Standing at 1.91m, Jullien joined Montpellier in the summer of 2022 from Celtic Glasgow. Although he started 13 games this season, the athletic defender has recently lost his starting spot to Swiss international Becir Omeragic. With Jullien out of action, Montpellier now has only three recognized center-backs in their squad: Malian internationals “Kiki” Kouyaté and Modibo Sagnan, along with Omeragic.

The injury comes as a blow to Montpellier as they now face a defensive crisis with Jullien sidelined for an extended period. The club will heavily rely on Kouyaté, Sagnan, and Omeragic to step up in Jullien’s absence. The team will need to quickly adapt to fill the void left by Jullien’s injury and maintain their defensive solidity in the upcoming games to continue their push for success in the league.
