As reported by Marca on March 12th, Real Betis has agreed to transfer Abner Vinícius to Olympique Lyon for eight million euros in a deal related to Luiz Henrique’s move to Botafogo. The transfer is set to take place this summer. According to L’Equipe, the French club must first present its financial records to the National Management Control Directorate of the French League before the transfer can be finalized. This process is just a formality and should not hinder the deal.
Of the eight million euros, half will go to Real Betis, who owned 50% of the player’s economic rights. The other half will go to Atletico Paranaense, Abner’s previous club. This transfer helps Betis cover the remaining amortization costs from the five million euros they paid for Abner in January 2023, when they signed him until 2029. Additionally, Betis is expected to make a small profit from the deal.
With Abner’s departure looming, Betis may also see Juan Miranda leave as his contract expires on June 30th. The club is in the process of negotiating contract renewals and addressing players with uncertain futures, like Sergi Cardona from Las Palmas and Abel Bretones from Oviedo, as potential replacements. Pellegrini’s team is looking to solidify its squad for the upcoming season after these movements.
