“Athletic Bilbao Boosts Attendance Records in La Liga”

The season coming to an end this Sunday has been a huge success for Athletic Bilbao in terms of attendance at San Mamés Stadium. The club has seen an average of over 46,000 fans per game, with a total of 1,024,376 fans attending matches throughout the season. Notably, the team set a new record for consecutive games without a loss in La Liga, with a streak of 18 matches since their opening game defeat to Real Madrid. When including Copa del Rey matches against Alavés, Barcelona, and Atlético, the streak extends to 21 games.

The support from fans has been outstanding, especially during the Copa del Rey matches. The semifinal match against Atlético Madrid saw a record attendance of 52,061 spectators, making it the highest-attended game ever at San Mamés Stadium. In La Liga, the match against Real Sociedad had the highest attendance with 51,475 fans. Throughout the season, the stadium saw over 50,000 fans in attendance on five occasions – three in La Liga (against Real Sociedad, Barcelona, and Villarreal) and two in Copa del Rey (against Atlético Madrid and Barcelona).

Overall, Copa del Rey matches have drawn significant crowds, with the first-round match against Alavés attracting 45,233 spectators. This was higher than the attendance for several La Liga matches, including games against Sevilla, Rayo Vallecano, Celta Vigo, Real Betis, Almería, Getafe, Cádiz, and Las Palmas, which had the lowest attendance of the season with 39,471 spectators. The Copa del Rey games at San Mamés averaged an attendance of 49,451, surpassing the season’s average attendance.
